OUR ANSWERS TO

YOUR QUESTIONS

  • A mentor has insights into a specific industry a mentee is interested in and generally gained a lot of experience in different areas. She/He will give tips, honest feedback and advice.

  • Our mentors are not necessarily certified coaches. The difference between mentoring and coaching is that the mentor should and will tell you her individual experience, advice and opinion, whereas a coach has the objective to guide you to finding answers without saying her opinion.

  • It’s up to you! We provide a 10-step framework, how quickly you work through it depends on how often the mentor and the mentee find time to meet. For some sessions, you might need more time to prepare, reflect or read. On average, the program might take about a year.

  • We always adapt our program according to the current (local) regulations. Since the first lockdown in 2020, we have shifted 100% of our events online, meaning that you can participate in our events from anywhere. Please check individually with your mentor, if you prefer to have your 1:1 mentoring sessions online or live in person (if you are in the same location). If the situation permits, we will eventually organize kick-off meetings and other events in a hybrid setting, so that you can join either live or remotely.

  • We believe in inclusive and intersectional feminism. Men* are more than welcome to join us if they want to share their experience and knowledge. Some of our own best mentors have been men, so we think that if we don’t give them the chance to be mentors we’d be missing out.

  • Our kick-off events happen 3 times a year. So every 4 months, after you’ve registered as a mentor/mentee and we have matched you, you can start the WoMentor program.

  • As soon as you apply via our sign-up process for mentees, you have agreed to our T&Cs and agreed to the purchase of the mentoring membership you have chosen. After you are matched to your mentor, you will receive an invoice for the mentoring membership fee.

  • We have developed an algorithm to find the mentor that will best suit your needs. The algorithm takes into consideration your work experience, as well as the skills you want to learn and your personal preferences. In the end, we check the algorithm’s suggestions for your mentor and make sure with a final phone interview that the mentor is a great fit to you. Once you are matched, you will be notified via e-mail and can view your mentor’s profile in your WoMentor profile you have created when you signed up.

  • Mentees are matched to their mentors by an algorithm described above. In the cases that your mentor/mentee is not committed to the mentoring, has no time resources for your meetings or the ‘chemistry’ is not working between you, we offer you one rematch during your mentoring year.

  • Having a good mentor can bring you far - be it in your professional or your personal life. Every now and then we find ourselves in situations where our next step might not be clear, we don’t know for certain where we want to go in our careers or we do know, but don’t know how to get there or what actions to take. A mentor might have gone through similar situations and can guide you by giving you advice, feedback and support.

  • As a mentor you can improve your leadership and coaching skills all while empowering women to discover and unleash their potential. If you apply as a mentor, you will be able to network with motivated, like-minded women, get inspired by our 10-step framework and get a reference for you professional network.

  • Yes. If you wish to be matched to a mentor who lives in another country than you do, just let us know in the sign-up form.
